Group: Mise en scene

Costume
Due to our music video not being scripted or follwing a set regime, i.e. restrictions on characters and activities we will not be having any strict costume requirements. However we would still like to include clothing iconic to listeners of the genre as much as possible, this means urban clothing and accessories. Possibly even clothing with brands or labels taken from the drum and bass industry, for instance record labels such as Hospital Records and Playaz offer a range of merchandise, as well as iconic clubs/organisations like Fabriclive and Shogun Audio.

Props
We have already decided on a selection of props/items to display in the video, in order to enocurage the notion of a montage music video. We will use studio equipment - to simulate the production of music within the video, fireworks and flares to use during the night, which will be during a certain part of the song only as well as other props for example motorbikes to do wheelies on. Another possible prop/piece of equipment we are contemplating using is a skateboard or bicycle which we have seen other amateur film makers use with a steadycam instead of track which has to be layed down, picked up, moved around etc. and is much less time effective.

Lighting
The majority of out shots take place outside and we will therefore be relying heavily on natural light. However, we have noticed in a lot of videos we are currently analysing/studying that they increase the saturation to make everything on screen more colourful, we have used this technique in our reccie shots of brighton and it has made the footage look even more impressive. We have also put some money together to buy an attatchable LED light to clip to the camera, for when we film at night for example when filming fireworks and/or if we decide to film some scenes at a party. Other stronger lighting may be needed which we can obtain if required however with the majority of our video being filmed in the day time we do not see this as a huge concern. (Below is an LED cam light)

Location
Because the content of our video is so diverse we are going to use a very broad range of locations, however we have outlined a selection which we will be traveling to for certain. Firstly is the South Bank skate park in central London (where we did our location reccie), in this location we want to capture skateboarders and BMXers doing tricks etc. hopefully using the idea of a bike or skateboard as tracking equipment.

Another location we like Is Leake Street, again in central London just outside Waterloo East train station. It is a legal graffiti tunnel where many pieces of amazing art can be found and are frequently updated, it is often used in music videos and even features in Shy FX's video - Raver. (below)
Camden town is another location we believe would suit the video well due to its diversity not only in terms of buildings and surroundings but people too. This is where we intend to capture some footage of culture for the video as it is much more lively than the previous two locations. We also have many other location ideas in mind in and surrounding London which can be utilised if we are not satisfied with the other footage we get. Not only this but we would also like to use some of the shots we got in Brighton on the media trip as some of them are good enough and suitable enough to include in the actual music video.
