Group: Storyboard

Shot 1: We will use time lapse to create interesting effects in our music video and also to ensure that our visuals are synchronous to the beat of the music. This will also give the impression of a fast cutting rate which is needed with such a fast drum beat. We will use the technique of time lapse several times in our music video in different locations – we are thinking about using shots of cars on motorways and people walking for this.

Shot 2: Close ups of DJ and music equipment will be used in order for there to be a performance element to our music video. We will use these to introduce the video, when the music is slower, with the use of manual focus. We will shoot these shots in a dark location in order for the lights on the equipment to really stand out.

Shot 3: We will shoot mid-shots of different groups of people and also individual people in different locations. This will encourage the disjuncture of our piece and also show the wide variety of people that there is. We will make sure each location is contrasting from the last and that there is a strong distinction between all of the people that we use. We are thinking about using a brick wall, a graffiti wall and a canal as some of our locations for these shots.

Shot 4: Panning/establishing shots will be used to introduce some of the locations that we use in our music video but in a unique way, for example, having a panning shot at normal speed intercut with extremely short shots so they almost look like flashes in order to coincide with the beat of the music and to give the illusion of a fast cutting rate. The skate park at South Bank as shown in the picture above will be one of the locations we will use.

Shot 5: We will use several tracking shots which we will speed up in order for it to fit with the pace of our music. Our ideas for different kinds of tracking shots include following people walking down a street, BMX riders performing tricks and also skateboarders. However, this is also an opportunity to use slow motion effects in the slower parts of our track.

Shot 6: We are thinking about filming a number of our shots in the dark in order for bright lights to be the focus of the shot. We are considering using fireworks and flares to achieve this but we will have to be aware of the health and safety precautions that will come from it. Nevertheless we will still include this kind of effect by filming cities at night so the bright lights are still the centre of the shot.

  1. This is good work although a few of your frames show split screens and you didn't mention this editing technique, are you considering doing this?

    1. They aren't split screens they are just more examples of the same shot
